Veteran sports commentator and journalist Haritha Perera has started a sports website for the benefit of sports lovers in Sri Lanka. The website is; that will give updates of sports events happening in Sri Lanka.

Haritha Perera has been involved as a sports media personality since April 1986. He is an old boy of St. Thomas’ Prep. School, Kollupitiya, S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia and Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya.

He has played first XI cricket for Dharmapala, Premier Division inter-club cricket for BRC, Nationalised Services ‘B’ division cricket for Ceylon Ceramics and Mercantile Services ‘B’ division cricket for Aitken Spence Group.

Perera has been a former General Secretary/Cricket Secretary of BRC and former Cricket Secretary of Aitken Spence SC. He is an Honorary Life Member of BRC.

Perera has been involved in sports coverages for SLBC since 1986 in cricket, athletics, tennis and football. He has been involved with Rupavahini, ITN, MTV and CSN since 1990 in cricket, badminton, cycling, hockey, rugby, rowing, football, boxing, indoor cricket, athletics, tennis, volleyball and swimming.

Perera has been trained in commentating by SLBC and Rupavahini and has participated in workshops for leadership and media related to sports conducted by the National Olympic Committee and Football Federation.

Haritha has been Master of Ceremonies for a World Cup Post Match Presentation (1996), FIFA President’s visit welcome and felicitation dinner (1998).

Perera’a experience spreads to coverages of five Commonwealth Games, four Asian Games, six South Asian Games and nine Cricket World Cups (ODI/T20) in addition to six national sports festivals for Radio, Television, Mobile, Internet and Web.
