India won the toss and chose to bat first on the opening day of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the P Sara Oval.

India made three changes to the team that lost the first Test at Galle. Opening bat Murali Vijay, all-rounder Stuart Binny and fast bowler Umesh Yadav replaced injured opener Shikhar Dhawan, Varun Aaron and Harbhajan Singh.

For Sri Lanka fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera returned to the team from injury replacing Nuwan Pradeep who has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.

The Test marks the final appearance in international cricket of cricketing icon Kumar Sangakkara.

Sri Lanka leads the three-match series 1-0.
