Prime Minister designate and United National Party (UNP) Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe invited all political parties represented in Parliament to join with him for a consensus and national framework to develop the country and continue the good governance policy work plan which was commenced on January 08 this year.

He made these observations addressing the media for a special statement at the Temple Trees. Wickremesinghe also urged not to leave this opportunity of working together behind. He added that the national frame-work which he is going to introduce is the Lichchavi Accord which is mostly known as working together with an utmost corporation and understanding.

The very short statement of Wickremesinghe didn’t speak about the elections or the way the election was conducted, but mentioned that the Good Governance concept which was introduced by them brought them for an election which could be satisfied by all.

He asserted that he will take oaths as the Prime Minister of new government and making a regime will be finalized after discussions with political parties. “I have already met President Maithripala Sirisena,” he added. In another statement which he issued to the media just after announcement of results of the election, he suggest “Let us together build a civilized society, build a consensual government and create a new country with equal opportunities for everybody.”
