The case filed in the Magistrate’s Court, Colombo which alleges that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and former Governor of the Central Bank, Ajith Nivard Cabraal misused Employee Provident Fund (EPF) monies, has been made public.

The complainant, Kelum Kumarasinghe, alleges that both Rajapaksa and Cabraal engaged in investing EPF funds in various companies, the result of which was a massive loss amounting to approximately 12 billion rupees.

Furthermore, the complainant alleges that the former Governor acted through corruptly and with intent and with the knowledge that such a loss would result from transactions which amounted to dealings with the “stock market mafia”.
