In an effort to improve efficiency of staff operations and waste collection, Sri Lanka last week established the first modern tracking system to monitor waste collection vehicle fleet of the local authorities in the Batticaloa district.

The user-friendly system named M-track provides information on location, vehicle route, speed, mileage, parking time, fuel consumption, engine on/off status and schedule delays/ adherences. Here public sector officials are seen receiving training on the new system initiated by Mobitel Sri Lanka with the support of the EU and the UNOPS
