Kaushal Silva hit a defiant unbeaten 83 to deny India victory and force a draw for SL Board President's XI in the three-day game concluded at the R Premadasa Stadium.

Sri Lanka Board President’s XI overcame a threat from Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin to draw the three-day tour match concluded at the R Premadasa Stadium.

Faced with an imposing target of 411, the Board team finished on 200-6 with Test batsmen Kaushal Silva and Upul Tharanga making up for their first innings first ball dismissals with half-centuries apiece.

Silva hit an undefeated 83 off 163 balls and Tharanga a 54-ball 52 that included eight fours and a six before becoming the first of Ashwin’s three victims in the innings.

Earlier Indians resuming their second innings at 112-3 were dismissed for 180 with fast bowler Kasun Rajitha claiming two wickets to finish with seven wickets in the match.

India play Sri Lanka in the first Test at Galle starting on Wednesday.
