The 48th Saints Quadrangular between the old boys of St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya, St. Joseph’s College Maradana, St, Anthony’s College Katugastota and this year’s host St. Benedict’s College Kotahena will take place in a carnival atmosphere on August 22 and 23.

According to the organizers of the event the main attraction will be the 50 overs cricket match between the old boys’ teams representing the four schools.

Ranjith Peiris, representing St. Anthony’s College Katugastota, speaking at a press conference organized in connection with the Saints Quadrangular and held at Old Ben’s Sports Club said that the two semi finals of the cricket tournament will be played on August 22 at the St. Benedict’s College grounds Kotahena and at St. Joseph’s College grounds in Darley Road. St. Benedict’s will meet St. Joseph’s College while St. Peter’s College will take on St. Anthony’s College Katugastota. The venue for the finals has not been decided at the time of the press briefing was held.

An ‘over 40’ 25 overs per side cricket tournament has also been organized as a result of a request by the old boys of the four schools. This is to accommodate the players who will not make it to the main teams contesting the cricket tournament.

Arrangements have also been made to conduct a seven-a-side rugby tournament and a basketball tournament as part of the Saints Quadrangular.

The quadrangular is organized each year to promote fellowship between the four schools. The inaugural tournament was held in 1963 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of St. Benedict’s College.
