Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma ripped through the Sri Lanka Board President’s XI batting taking five wickets for 23 runs as the hosts were dismissed for a paltry total of 121 on the second day of the 3-day tour match played at the R Premadasa Stadium.
Test batsmen Kaushal Silva and Upul Tharanga along with Kusal Perera – all collected first ball ducks as Sharma scythed through the batting to have the Board team reeling at 10 for five wickets before a late rally staged by Milinda Siriwardana (32), Niroshan Dickwella (41) and Danushka Gunathilaka (28) saw them post a somewhat respectable total of 121.

By the close India who made 351 in their first innings had scored 112 for three wickets to have an overall lead of 342 going into the third and final day today.

In the Indian first innings 22-year-old fast bowler Kasun Rajitha playing in only his eighth first-class match took his maiden five-for in an innings finishing with figures of 5/68.
