As the Rugby Sevens gears up for kick-off today at the Race Course grounds, Kandy Sports Club who are at their best will field seven of their best players that the sport has to offer.

Rugby fans from across Sri Lanka are sure to gather at the venue, to witness and take part in one of the most exciting sporting events of the year: the annual SLRFU Sevens tournament.

With Kandy SC looking to take home the gold, it makes sense for the game. For the most part, rugby sevens is easy to understand. There are seven players on the field for each team, with seven-minute halves. Other than that, the rules are very much the same as traditional rugby. Seven-minute halves instead of 40-minute halves mean seven’s tournaments can be viewed on television without people getting bored.

The Kandy SC side will be picked from, Fazil Marija who will lead the side, with Nigel Ratwatte, Gyan Weeraratne, Shehan Pathirana, Roshan Weeraratne, Srinath Sooriyabandara, Lavanga Perera, Anuruddha Willwara, Vishamithra Jayasinghe, Sayuru Anthony, Tharindu Janaka and Richard Dharmapala who are bound to bring honour to the hill capital.
