Government Institutions have erected over 4,500 illegal hoardings aimed at the upcoming election says the Campaign for Free & Fair Election (CaFFE). According to its Executive Director Keerthi Thennakoon most cut-outs featuring candidates are currently being maintained by various government institutions.

Some of the offending institutions are the National Housing Authority, National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Road Development Authority including various other local government institutions.  “Such erected cut-outs and hoardings are completely illegal” he said adding that citizens should report such hoardings with photographic proof to CaFFE, the Elections Commissioner or to the Department of Elections.

Currently CaFFE has received 667 elections related complaints since the announcement of the election while 51 are election related violence incidents.
