Since the announcement of the election, the Department of Elections has received 471 complaints and 139 cases related to illegal appointments/promotions. An official of the Department said that 62 cases of misuse of public property, 91 complaints of illegal election propaganda and 68 cases of illegal distribution of rations have been reported to them so far.
Meanwhile, People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) has received a total of 363 complaints which are related to election violence and election law violations. Out of which 27 complaints of acts of violence, 71 complaints with regard to abuse of state power, resources and misusing state sector employees, 170 cases of carrying out illegal election propaganda and 34 complaints of illegal appointments,transfers.
Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) has received 491complaints so far. According to CaFFE, a total number of 229 cases of misuse of public property and 224 complaints of illegal election propaganda were recorded to them. The director further mentioned 42 incidents of illegal election propaganda and 12 election law violation cases have also been reported to them.
Talking to The Nation, National Polls Observations Center (NPOC) convener, Rasanga Harischandra mentioned that they received a total number of 321 cases related to election and other related activities. NPOC have recorded 27 cases of election violence cases, 171 cases of misuse of state property, 123 cases of illegal propaganda and also 254 complaints have been made with regard to new employment to state institutions.
