Hard hitting right-hander Chamara Kapugedera has been recalled to the Sri Lanka Twenty20 squad after three years to play Pakistan in the two-match series at the R Premadasa Stadium on July 30 and August 1.
Kapugedera last played in a T20 international for his country against Pakistan at Hambantota in 2012, but has been overlooked since.
The 15-members squad led by Lasith Malinga includes seven uncapped T20I players – Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka, Shehan Jayasuriya, Jeffrey Vandersay, Binura Fernando, Chaturanga de Silva and Milinda Siriwardana.
All-rounders Chaturanga de Silva and Milinda Siriwardana have appeared in ODIs for Sri Lanka.
Right-arm leg-spinner Vandersay distinguished himself as a future prospect by capturing seven wickets for a Board President’s XI against Pakistan in a three-day tour match.
Missing from the squad that won the World T20 title in Bangladesh last year are the captain Dinesh Chandimal, Lahiru Thirimanne, Suranga Lakmal, Rangana Herath, Sachitra Senanayake, Ajantha Mendis, Seekkuge Prasanna and Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara who have both retired.
Nuwan Kulasekara who was overlooked for the ongoing five-match ODI series against Pakistan gets a place in the 15.
