Riot police clear the stands at R Premadasa Stadium on Sunday where the third ODI between Sri Lanka and Pakistan was disrupted by clashes amongst spectators.

Sri Lanka Cricket states that security measures will be tightened for tomorrow’s one-day international match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium following clashes between two factions in the spectator stands that led to the third ODI game being disrupted on Sunday.

A media release from SLC states: “Spectators are advised to refrain from carrying hooters, liquor, glass bottles, sharp objects and lighters/match boxes into the stadium.

“Any unruly behaviour by any spectator will be severely dealt with and may even be subject to eviction from the ground.”

Riot police had to clear two sections of the stadium where the clashes took place before the game was resumed after 30-minute delay on Sunday.

Stones were thrown from outside the stadium into the ground forcing the umpires to take the players off the field until the situation was brought under control.

Four persons were arrested after the incident by the Maligawatte police.
