The Pakistan players and umpires take safety in the middle of the playing area before going off the field after crowd trouble halted play during the third ODI against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium.

Four persons have so far been arrested in connection with last night’s clashes at the R.Premadasa Stadium during the third One Day International between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, police confirmed.

Police Media Unit said police were conducting further investigations to arrest more suspects who were allegedly involved in the violence.

A riot broke out between two factions in one of the stands near the scoreboard during Sri Lanka’s innings and one of the stones thrown in the melee landed just outside the boundary line.

At this point, players and umpires were taken off the field and the match resumed after a delay of about 30 minutes after police and Special Task Force (STF) personnel cleared the stand where the clashes took place.
