Jathika Hela Urumaya General Secretary Patali Champika Ranawaka claimed that the United National Front for Good Governance (UNFGG) stands for principles and not for any leader or a particular party.

“After the destruction caused to the country by Mahinda Rajapaksa’s government it is in need of economic and social reforms. That is the only a solution for the present situation. UNFGG will introduce a special program to overcome all the issues faced by the country,” said Minister Ranawaka.

He further pointed out that the party will present how concepts of good governance be used to relieve the country from debt. “We did not get the chance to exercise legislative functions. So therefore UNFGG will appoint a legislative committee to prevent corruption and to introduce an Act to punish all culprits who have committed mismanagement and financial ‘mega deals’,” the Minister said.

He also admitted that some of the promises made by the ‘Maithri Palanaya’ were not implemented due to several issues. “Our only objective was not to block Rajapaksa’s revival in politics but also to give the leadership to a campaign to take the country forward and promote good governance”, he said.

Kalutara District UNFGG candidate Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe, Gampaha district candidate Nirosha Athukorala and lecturer Anuruddha Pradeep were also present at the briefing.
