The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) on Wednesday (15) released a picture of President Maithripala Sirisena visiting the agency on 10th July 2015, a day after the President broke silence on the Treasury bond controversy in a televised address to the nation.

The visit to the Central Bank premises had been accompanied by Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe where they were jointly received by Governor Arjuna Mahendran, members of the Monetary Board and the senior management of CBSL.

“A new silver coin minted for the 150th Birth Anniversary of Srimath Anagarika Dharmapala was presented as a memento in honour of the President’s visit to the Bank,” the CBSL said.

The President in his hour-long speech on Tuesday said that following the scandal that rocked the new administration, he had suggested to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe that Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran to resign.
