The Lebanese national who attacked three women at a restaurant on Havelock road and was shot at by the Police was released from the National Hospital after receiving treatment for a number of days on Thursday (July 16). The suspect has now been taken to remand custody till July 23 according to the Police Media Unit.

Wellawatta Police yesterday (July 17) gave a further report regarding the incident to the Aluthkade Magistrates Court. The individual had attacked the women with a knife on July 9 causing non-threatening injuries to them. However according to the Police the reason for the attack is yet unascertainable.

“The victims claim to not knowing the reason for his outburst,” an officer of the Police Media Unit said adding that all four individuals had been work colleagues till four days previous to the attack.
