The National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) of Sri Lanka says that it has over 6000 files that are pending approval adding that they would be studied in due course.
It was reported in the media that the NMRA had recently given the go ahead to purchase of low quality surgical gloves for Rs.400 million.

When contacted, a senior official who did not wish to be quoted said that there were several issues that needed to be looked into in the institution. “We have at least 6.000 files that are pending approval. We need to study everything and see where things have gone wrong in the past,” the official said.
