Sri Lanka China Friendship Association and the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka organize a speech contest among school and university students, assisted by the Ministry of Education. The theme for the speech contest has been made with the intention of introducing the “21st century maritime Silk Route” which is a novel concept by the People’s Republic of China.
The contest will be held in three categories; Ordinary Level, Advanced Level and University students in all three languages. The first category comprises the students of Grade 10 and 11, while the category represents the students of Grade 12 and 13. The topic for all three categories will be ‘Human development inspired through the 21st century maritime silk route.’
Students have to prepare an application by themselves according to the draft published in the Sri Lanka China Friendship Association web-site; http://sl-china.net. Applications should be forwarded to the Coordinating Officer, No. 101, Elvitigala Mawatha, Colombo 8 before July 27. Completed applications also can be mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Studentship of the applicants has to be confirmed by the respective principals or the deans of faculties of the university students.
