The fundamental rights violation petition, filed by Tiran Alles will be taken for support on July 10. The Supreme Court fixed the date today and Democratic National Alliance (Independent now) MP Tiran Alles had filed the case alleging an imminent illegal arrest.

However, the Additional Solicitor General Yasantha Kodagoda PC, who appeared for the IGP and the Director of the CID, gave an undertaking to the Court that the MP would not be arrested until July 10. Alles claims that the CID says he is suspected of having financial transaction with the LTTE. He could well be illegally arrested on that baseless allegation in violation of his personal liberty.

Romesh de Silva PC and Sugath Caldera represented the petitioner. The petition will be supported for leave to proceed on July 10, before the Chief Justice K. Siripavan, Justice Priyasath Dep and Justice Eva Wanasundera.
