Ven. Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thera

Ven. Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thera reiterated yesterday that it is the responsibility of the people not to elect corrupt people, murderers, drug traffickers, ethanol dealers, uneducated people etc to Parliament. The Thera who is actively engaging in Sri Lankan politics pleaded that each and every citizen of the country to elect a group responsible people who could enact laws to govern the country and keep those respected by whole the country.

Most Ven. Thera was speaking at the public function at Viharamaha Devi park to present the book containing one million signatures of people collected by the March 12 Movement to the representatives of political parties and the March 12 Movement’s Public Endorsement requested the political parties not to send the notorious and uneducated persons to the Parliament as people’s representatives.

Ven. Thera also reminded the election campaign expenditure reports of few politicians and questioned why such big amounts have to be spent at an election. Peradeniya University Law Faculty Dean Dr. Deepika Udugama, United National Party MP Eran Wickremerathne, Jathika Hela Urumaya MP Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera, Purawesi Peramuna MP Sri Ranga and several others also spoke.
