PALLEKELE: Pakistan lost the wicket of Asad Shafiq for 15 on a rain interrupted afternoon session that allowed only 81 minutes play on the second day of the third Test against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Stadium.

A 19-minute Interruption to rain saw Shafiq lose his concentration and his wicket when he was trapped lbw by Dhammika Prasad with his score on 15.

Play was possible only for a further 27 minutes before rain drove the players for an early tea with Pakistan on 117 for four wickets in reply to Sri Lanka’s first innings of 278.

Azhar Ali was unbeaten on 47 scored with the help of eight fours and Sarfraz Ahmed was on 14 not out.

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has pushed himself down the batting order to give himself time to recover from a groin injury which is being treated with an ice pack, according to team sources.
