From indigo to audiotapes to catalysts, BASF sites around the world are celebrating the 150th anniversary of its foundation in 2015. On June 18, 2015, BASF Lanka celebrated BASF’s 150 years of success worldwide with its employees, customers and partners in the country.
A birthday cake to celebrate 150th anniversary was cut by the Ambassador of Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr. Jurgen Morhard, Chairman and Managing Director, BASF India and Head of South Asia Dr. Raman Ramachandran and Managing Director of BASF Lanka Panduka Weerasinghe.
BASF has had an association with Sri Lanka for almost 80 years. With 45 employees as of the end of 2014, and a state-of-the-art warehousing complex at Sapugaskande, BASF registered sales of approximately Euro13 million to customers in Sri Lanka in 2014. BASF in Sri Lanka also contributes to the local community with initiatives that support relief and rehabilitation efforts.
BASF had sales of over Euro74 billion in 2014 and around 113,000 employees as of the end of the year. BASF shares are traded on the stock exchanges in Frankfurt (BAS), London (BFA) and Zurich (AN)
