Amana Bank table tennis team emerged champions in the ‘D’ Division for the first time at the Mercantile Table Tennis League Tournament that was held at S. Thomas, Indoor Stadium on June 25 and 26.

They defeated Commercial Bank by three matches to one in the final to finish with an unbeaten record.

They beat Unilever 3/1 in the semi-final and in the group stages beat Millennium IT 3/1, and Commercial Bank 3/1.
Amana Bank team comprised Fazil Rahaman (captain), Sandeep Himasha, Ali Wahid, Mohamed Kiyasudeen and Hussain Samsudeen.

Meanwhile, the MAS Intimates women’s team emerged champions in the women’s ‘A’ division beating Seylan Bank 2/0 in the final.
MAS Intimates team comprised Srimali Wimalaratne, Kalpani Herath and Sujani Bogollagama.

Men’s ‘A’ division was won by Commercial Credit beating Seylan Bank 3/1. The Commercial Credit team comprised Chameera Ginige, Sukitha Wickramanayake and Pubudu Channaka.
Founder member of the Mercantile Table Tennis Association in 1957 Eric Motha who was on holiday from Canada graced the occasion as chief guest and presented the trophies and certificates.
