The government will make the arrangements to increase per capita income of the country to USD 6,000 within next five years, said by President Maithripala Sirisena.
He made this announcement yesterday speaking at a function to deliver the benefits of Consolidated Gem Mining Projects of Seethawaka River, among the people in Dehiovita area. Accordingly, Rs. 34.2 million were delivered among 165 places of worship, Samurdhi beneficiaries, disabled persons and 900 orphans.
He also suggested that a part of the profit that businessmen and government earned from gem trade should be passed on to the low income families in the areas where the gems are mined and also promised that it will be implemented as a policy in the future.
