The International Center for Ethnic Studies invites you a screening of Winter Sleep (Winner of Palme d’Or Award at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival) by Nuri Bilge Ceylan from Turkey at the ICES Auditorium, 2, Kinsey Terrace, Colombo 8 on June 29(Monday) at 4.00 pm.

Winter Sleep is a Turkish film, directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan- An adaptation from a Short story The Wife by Anton Chekhov. The story is set in Anatolia and examines the significant divide between the rich and poor as well as the powerful and the powerless in Turkey.

Aydin, a former actor, runs a small hotel in Central Anatolia with his young wife Nihal ,with whom he has a stormy relationship, and his sister Neela who is suffering from her recent divorce. In winter, as the snow begins to fall, the hotel turns into a small shelter, but also an inexplicable place that fuels their animosities
