Though the dissolution of Parliament is seemingly days away, trade unions continue to agitate demanding that authorities pay heed to their demands. These range from salary hikes to making casual employees permanent ones and keeping promises made during elections. Employees of three state institutions, namely Ceylon Electricity Board, Department of Postal Services and Sri Lanka Telecom all held separate protests last week to highlight their grievances.
