Opening batsmen, Tharanga Indika from Lankem Ceylon PLC, and Krishantha Aruna from Hidaramani Group and right arm medium pacer Ravi Lakshan from Coats Thread Lanka stole the lime light at the 2nd Sierra IT Trophy, MCA ‘F’ division 25 over League Tournament, pre quarter finals worked off last weekend.

Tharanga Indika hit a quickfire 115 runs in 81 balls, inclusive of 2 sixes and 16 fours to spear head Lankem Ceylon to a resounding 69 runs win over Coutaulds Clothing.
Krishantha Aruna carried his bat out after scoring a sparkling 114 not out in 66 balls, inclusive of 6 sixes and 10 fours, as he single handedly steered Hidaramani Group to a 4 wickets win over South Asia Gateway Terminal.

Coats Thread Lanka, who finished fourth in group “B”, created a big upset by eliminating HSBC “C” (Group “A” leader), beating them by 4 wickets, as Ravi Lakshan snapped up 6 wickets for 12 runs in 5 overs; The bankers who batted first were shot out for 83 runs in 23.5 overs, the top scorer being extras.

A protest was lodged by QP Employment in their match against Hayleys who won by nine wickets. The protest was upheld and Hayleys have to refrain from the tournament. The result of the match is now awarded to QP Employment who will now meet Hirdaramani in the quarters.
