The women’s segment of the 2nd Schools Old Boys and Old Girls Basketball Championships 2015, conducted by Masters Basketball Sri Lanka got underway at the MCA Basketball Court last weekend.

In the womens over-28 tournament, the Old Josephians, Nugegoda proved too strong for Familians, Kurunegala, as they beat them 53/20 in the womens over-35 tournament. The battle of Moratuwa was comfortably won by Our Lady of Victories, over Princess of Wales, 42/20, after leading 24/10 at half time.

The men’s tournament continued for the second weekend at the same venue with four more matches.

In the mens over-35 tournament, the defending champions, Old Antonians, Wattala, Old Bens Kotahena and the Old Peterites, Bambalapitiya, each scored their second successive win.

The Wattala Antonians comfortably beat the Old Senanayakians 58/32, after lending 17/14 at half time; the Old Bens had to fight hard to beat Colombo International School Old Boys, 68/61, after leading 34/33 at half time. In a keenly contested game, the Old Peterites got the better of their traditional rivals, the Old Joes, 49/42, after holding a 26/21 lead at the breather.

In the Mens O-50 tournament, the Old Peterites turned tables on Old Sokians, Ambalangoda, 30/23, after being led 11/10 at the breather.
