Cabinet Spokesman and Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine Rajitha Senaratne said he had met with former President Mahinda Rajapaksa today for what he described as a ‘friendly chat’ between old friends.
“We discussed about the past and our health. The Rajapaksa family are my old friends,” he told journalists at today’s Cabinet press briefing, also pointing out that he had met former Minister Basil Rajapaksa a few days earlier.
However, the minister said politics was not a subject that was discussed during the meeting, as he is not authorized to speak to the former president on politics.
A six-member committee appointed by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) to hold talks between President Maithripala Sirisena and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to meet the former president this evening.
