Executive Grade officers in the State service will start receiving an increase in their monthly allowances as promised in the interim budget with effect from July 1.
Addressing today’s Cabinet press briefing, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Rajitha Senaratne explained that a monthly allowance of Rs.3000 would be paid to all Executive Grade officers who have less than 6 years of service. Rs.5000 would be paid to all such officers with 6-11 years of service, while those with 12-19 years of service would be paid an allowance of Rs.10,000. All Executive Grade officers who have completed more than 19 years of service are entitled to receive a monthly allowance of Rs.15,000, it was further disclosed.
The measure was recommended by the Cabinet Sub Committee on Economic Affairs.
