Isipathana College has conveyed to organisers of the Milo Knock-Out inter school rugby championship that they will not play against Royal College at the Royal Complex ground should the two schools meet in the final scheduled for July 11 or 12.
The Royal Complex ground is the usual venue for the Milo Knock-Outs but it is also the home venue of Royal.
Interestingly Royal and Isipathana met in last year’s Knock-Out final at the venue which the latter won.
Isipathana succumbed to Royal as the host school in their title-deciding League match last Saturday at the same venue.
But Isipathana have reason to call for a neutral venue for the Knock-Out tournament which is different in format to the home and away League matches.
Secretary of the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) Susantha Mendis said the dispute concerning the venue was under review.
“The issue has been brought to our notice and is being discussed at the moment”, said Mendis.
Royal and Isipathana have received walkovers into the semi finals of the Milo Knock-Out tournament after Wesley College and St. Anthony’s College pulled out.
St. Peter’s College will confront Science College in the first quarter final scheduled for Sunday (June 28) followed by Trinity College meeting DS Senanayake College on the following day.
Both matches will be at the Royal Complex ground which will also host the semi finals on July 4 and 5.
