St. Anthony’s Convent made Kandy proud by pocketing the All Island Girls Schools under-19 hockey championship title when they beat the strong Presidents College team from Nawala in the final in Matale.

On their way to the finals they had to fight hard to beat home town rivals Seetha Devi Balika Vidyalaya 3-2 on penalty strokes.

The annual Roy de Silva Challenge trophy lighting snooker tournament organized by Kandy Club will take place in July with twenty participants. Roy de Silva former President of the Club and one time NOC chief will be the chief guest.

Present Sri Lanka captain Fazil Marija has been called to lead the champion Kandy SC side in the inter-club Sevens tournament which is expected to be held on the 29th and 30th August. In the absence of coach Johan Taylor, Sean Wijesinghe will handle the team.

Trinity College will be at Longdon Place to play their last game against St. Joseph’s in schools tournament on 20th June.
Trinity who started well have failed to maintain their winning trend and are placed third in the points table. The Josephian’s who are enjoying a good season are placed at number five.
With both teams equally balanced a good game of rugby can be expected.

Kandy is getting ready for the third Test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka to be played at Pallekele from 30th June to 7th July. The one day game will also be play on 15th July at this venue.
