Tony Ranasinghe

Veteran actor Tony Ranasinghe passed away this morning at the age of 77 at a private hospital in Colombo. Ranasinghe debuted as an actor in 1964 in the Sinhala film ‘Gam Peraliya’ directed by renown director Lester James Peiris. The date for final rituals yet to be decided.

He has acted in number of heart winning movies and won several awards for his acting during his decades long career. He has won the Best Actor Awards three times for his talent, skillful and energetic acting in ‘Hanthane Kathawa’ (1969), ‘Duhulu Malak’ (1976) and ‘Ahasin Polawata’ (1979).

Parasathu Mal – (1966), Ganga Addara – (1980), Saptha Kanya -(1993) and Pavuru Walalu are few of movies which his contribution received.
