Two persons were killed after a bicycle collided with a train at the Merawala railway crossing in Chilaw last night.
Police Media Unit said the victims, a male and female, both aged 56 years, were killed on the spot. They are both residents of Asarappuwatta, Maikkulama.
Investigations have revealed that the collision had occurred after the cyclist tried to cross the railway crossing despite the rail gate being closed for the oncoming train. Chilaw police are conducting further investigations.
