Unbeaten Royal College had to throw in everything to put down a gallant and determined St. Joseph’s College before winning 25-22 their inter-school League rugby match at the Royal Sports Complex ground on Saturday.

At one stage the Joes led the contest 17-3 but Royal being what they are capable of turned the tide to take the lead and cling on to the slender margin and win.

Both teams scored three tries each, two of which were converted. But Royal maintained the difference by kicking right two penalties as against one by the Joes.

In other matches of the same tournament, Isipathana College defeated Trinity College 37-22 while Science College beat Kingswood College 37-22.
