Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa made an appearance this evening at the Matara rally organized by a section of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA). However, Rajapaksa did not take the stage or address the assembled crowd.

Nevertheless, in a message read out through Parliamentarian Dulles Alahapperuma, Rajapaksa promised to take the stage at the next rally due to be held calling on him to be put forward as the UPFA’s prime ministerial candidate at the next General Election.
