A courier parcel sent from Italy and listed as containing 20 slabs of chocolate, was found to be containing approximately 2 kilograms of narcotic drugs, suspected to be ‘Hashish’ after Sri Lanka Customs officials inspected it on suspicion.

Customs Spokesman Leslie Gamini said the parcel had been sent by a Sri Lankan male in Italy to a 59-year-old Sri Lankan woman in Hikkaduwa.

The parcel was seized by Customs officials at the Cargo office in Seeduwa. Further investigations are being conducted by Customs staff at Colombo Cargo office and the Customs Narcotic Control unit.
