When we think about inspiration, what inspires us most are ordinary people who have done extraordinary things. We appreciate when someone has the ability and willingness to be selfless, creative, innovative, or just dares to be different.

An inspiration is a person or thing that motivates actions or inventions in another being/beings or moves the intellect/emotions.

What does it mean to inspire?
To inspire means to fill someone with the urge or ability to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.

Not only adults can be inspirational, a good example for this is a 17-year-old girl who has been said to have inspired many.

She said, “My friends say I’m an inspiration and sometimes I find it hard to believe because I never think that I did much for them or enough to become an inspiration. But no matter what I say, they insist that I inspire them and even more people say that I inspire them. How is this possible?”

Her friends said, “She’s amazing! She’s been through a lot like depression, anxiety, family problems and bullying but she still gets ups and faces each day with a smile on her face and we think that it’s simply amazing. She sees the world in her own innocent way. She sees the world for all the good there is in it. She sees the good in everyone even if they hate her and not does she only do that, no matter how upset or sad she is, she makes us smile and feel happy.

We just sit down and talk about her sometimes. She’s the kindest person we know. So selfless, caring and loving.”

‘’I used to be so gloomy and hate life, but after she became my friend, my whole life changed. I was suddenly happy…I saw good things in life. I started to be positive. Her words are so true, heart touching and strong.”

“There’s so much that we can tell about her and how much she did for us but it’d take forever. So we’ll just say that she changed our life.”

Then someone asked a very important question… “But how does all that make her an inspiration?”

And they said, “How is she not an inspiration? She brought life to a broken soul. She brought joy to crying hearts. Who is an inspiration? Someone who motivates you to do something, motivates you to become a better person and do greater things in life. She did all that! That’s why she’s an inspiration.”

You can’t take steps to be an inspiration to others because being an inspiration is something that comes without deliberate effort.

And though not many people realize it, there’s a lot of pressure on people who inspire others because one wrong move they make can affect the people they inspire in a very negative way and the wound that appears would be very hard to heal.

Certainly, each of these people that we consider to be inspirations have that charismatic ability to lead others to better things. But each of them came from backgrounds of great poverty and difficulty. Each of them faced giant mountains to climb. They managed to reach the summit of those mountains not simply because they were great leaders, but because they were not afraid to be who they were. They were authentic.

They demanded authenticity in those who followed them, as well.  Which means that those who follow them should try to find inspiration within themselves.

A lot of us fail to do that. Most of us think that a person is great only if he/she appears on the headlines, magazines, newspapers or world famous.

But that’s not true. Inspirations can be found all over the world. They can come in all ages; young and not so young. They can be of all genders. Inspirations are not always famous and neither are they always noticed by others and not always are they aware that they inspire people.

Like the girl mentioned above, most inspirations don’t even think they deserve to be an inspiration. They are not known worldwide and they are not so famous. But…they are great!

You can be an inspiration to others, no matter what you feel you have or have not achieved. You have the ability to inspire. No matter who you are.

You will be amazed at the way inspiring others make you feel. In fact, it is the only feeling that rivals the one you get when you realize you have achieved your dream.
