The SLAB will host the joint annual meetings conducted by the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC} and the Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (PAC) from June 12-21, 2015 at the Kingsbury Hotel Colombo. Two hundred foreign guests, representing different accreditation bodies in the Asia Pacific region, will be participating at this conference, which will focus on the technical subjects related to accreditation. This is the first ever international meeting to be held in Sri Lanka under the subject of Accreditation.

The Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB) is a statutory body established in the country under the Act No. 32 of 200 to grant accreditation to conformity assessment bodies. The SLAB is the Apex body of accreditation for Sri Lanka and has accredited 100 organizations, including testing laboratories, inspection bodies and certification bodies in Sri Lanka and abroad. At present, the SLAB accreditation is internationally recognized and through which it facilitates local and international trade in the provision of goods and services by removing all quality-related non-tariff barriers.

The inaugural meeting of this international conference will be held on June 15, 2015 at 9.00am at the Kingsbllry Hotel under the patronage of Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rishad Bathiudeen.
