Former Sri Lanka paceman and fast bowling coach Chaminda Vaas has left for Australia to follow a Level Four course.

Vaas is said to be eyeing a coaching stint with an Australian domestic side after Sri Lanka Cricket did not grant him an extension to his contract following the conclusion of the World Cup.

Vaas proved himself as a successful fast bowling coach when New Zealand contracted him during their tour of Sri Lanka in 2013.

He becomes another retired player in a long list of coaches to see the door shut in his face by Sri Lanka Cricket.
