Two well balanced, equally strong, and unbeaten teams- EWIS and Union Assurance PLC., will lock horns in the final of the 13th David Pieris Group of Companies sponsored, “DPGC” Challenge Trophy, MCA “E” division 30–Over League Tournament 2015, on 30th May at the MCA grounds, commencing at 10 am.

EWIS played in Group “E” entered the final by beating Galadari Hotel by 7 wickets, Virtusa by 4 wickets, Unilever by 5 wickets, LOLC by 36 runs, R.R. Donerley by 8 wickets and Assetline Leasing by 7 wickets in the league stage. In the knock-out stage, they eliminated Mast far East, beating them by 67-runs in the pre quarter-finals, beat Citizens Development Bank by 6 wickets in the quarter-finals and beat Unilever by 9 runs in the semi-finals.

Union Assurance PLC played in Group “C” qualified to the final by beating Noyon Lanka by 79 runs, beat Interpharm by 67 runs, beat DFCC Group by 6 runs, beat Finlays Colombo by 110 runs and beat Ceylon Tobacco by 125 runs in the league stage. In the elimination stage they beat Commercial Bank “B” on a technical knock-out in the Pre –quarters, beat Pizza Hut by 6 runs in the quarters and beat Emerchemie NB by 58 runs in the semi-finals.

The match winner for EWIS in the semi-final was Heshan Wanniarachchi who top scored with a fine 75 runs in 69 balls hitting 5 sixes and 4 fours.

The win in the semi-final for Union Assurance PLC was fashioned by opening batsman Susantha de Mel (63 rtd hurt 74 balls, 2 sixes and 4 fours), bowlers Aruna Meemanage (5-1-8-2), Kasun Liyanage (6-27-2) and Dulip Silva (6-28-3).

The match Referee cum Adjudicator will be Old Cambrian, Pemlal Fernando.
