Maj. Gen. Srinath Rajapakse emerged the winner of the Division A at the Mercedes Trophy Golf Tournament, (Sri Lanka regional) held at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club course over the weekend.

Thusith Wijesinghe finished as first runner-up and Kamalesh Johnpillai was the second runner-up.

Dr. Rohitha Silva won the Division B while Rohal Fernandez and Ivor Maharoof finished as first and second runners-up respectively.

Chang Won Sam emerged as the winner of the Division C with Chandima Rodrigo and Ifthikar Ahamed finished as first and second runners-up respectively.

Petra Morhard did well to emerge as the winner in the Ladies category. Suwaneetha Selvaratnam finished as first runner-up while Usha de Silva was the second runner-up.
Over 75 golfers participated in this much looked forward to event that caters to Mercedes owners. Thewinners and first runners-up of each handicap group will proceed to participate in the Asian Finals to be held in Brisbane, Australia. If they can finish on top in that final they can compete in the World Finals to be held in Germany in October.

This tournament that was initiated in 1990 marked the 25th anniversary this year and the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club was an ideal setting for the event.

The grand award ceremony took place at the Grand Hotel on Saturday evening with the participation of Mr & Mrs Ranjith Pandithage (Chairman and Managing Director – DIMO), Gahanath Pandithage (CEO – DIMO), Kenny Ng (Representative from Daimler AG), Rajeev Pandithage (Head of Mercedes-Benz Sales and Parts), Tharanga Gunawardena (Head of Mercedes-Benz Service), Dinesh Gunaratne (Mercedes-Benz Sales Manager) and the Mercedes-Benz Sales Team.
