Brand ambassadors of McLarens, Achini Ratnasiri and Thisara Nimmika received a warm welcome by company officials upon their return from the Vivo BWF Sudirman Cup Team Badminton Tournament which was held in Guandong Province in Dongguan, China from 10 to 17 May 2015.

Sri Lanka’s badminton players, made an impressive show at the Sudirman Cup Tournament in which they comprehensively beat Israel, Kazakhstan and Seychelles to top sub-group 4B.

Ratnasiri, the former National women’s singles champion played along with Thilini Jayasinghe, Lekha Shihani against Seychelles and Kazakhstan and Israel respectively. She played along with Nimmika Edirisuriya, in mixed doubles and won all six of her games with an aggregate of 255 points and was ranked second among 21 players in the group.

On the other hand Nimmika won four of his six encounters and scored 258 points during 14 sets he played.

The Lankan men’s doubles consisted of Roshan Kumara, Tissara Nimmika and Dhakshika Gunatillake while the women doubles had the services of veteran players Thilini Jayasinghe, Lekha Shihani and Achini Ratnasiri.

By defeating Israel in the sub-group 4B, Sri Lanka had to face the Philippines where they stood as the runners up and occupied 29th place overall.

With the encouragement and guidance from the senior badminton players of McLarens Group, their sponsored team members have performed exceptionally well at various tournaments over the past few years.
