Sri Lanka women’s team captain Chamari Atapattu receives her award from Gamini Peramunage, Mayor of Kurunegala.

Eight former and present Sri Lanka national cricketers including two women players have been felicitated by the Kurunegala District Cricket Association during their Felicitation night 2015 held at Welagedara Stadium Kurunegala recently.

Test star Rangana Herath and present Sri Lanka national women’s team captain Chamari Attapattu were among the recipients of the awards. Former Sri Lanka opener Nihal Kodituwakku was also felicitated by the district association. He played two unofficial Tests for Sri Lanka during the 1966/67 season and later coached the Maliyadeva College team with much success during the early eighties.

Anurudha Rajapakshe of Kurunegala Youth CC clinched the player of the year award for his performances of the Emerging Trophy Cricket Tournament (558 runs and 22 wickets) while Sri Lanka junior national stars Damitha Silva (under 17) and Keshan Wijerathna (under 19) along with Dulaj Ranatunga (under 15) clinched the junior cricketers of the year awards.

Kurunegala district Parliamentarian and Kurunegala District Cricket Association President Salinda Dissanayaka and the Mayor of Kurunegala Gamini Peramunage were the chief guests on this occasion.
