Former Minister Dulles Alahapperuma revealed that by Thursday 6.00pm, the Opposition had received over 60 signatures supporting the no-faith motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. Alahapperuma was addressing the media on Friday morning and said the collection of the signatures is being continued and it will take place on May 25 (Monday) too.

Matara district MP Alahapperuma stated that this could be the third no faith motion against a Prime Minister in Sri Lankan political history and they expect a significant change as on the last two occasions, the no-faith motions were defeated.

“We do not want the same result this time and we will hand it over only to win. Most of the signatories for the time being are State and Deputy Ministers who are representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP),” he added.

He further said that being a prime minister of a minority regime, undermining the police service with political powers, his unacceptable behavior at the Central Bank bond issue, putting the national security and national economy in trouble are the allegations leveled against Prime Minister Wickremesinghe.
