A group of National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) officials visited the National School of Business Management (NSBM) Green University construction site for a progress review recently.
The Green University Town project which commenced construction in Pitipana, Homagama in a 26 acre land in December 2013, is a Rs.10.2 billion investment with the aim of improving the higher education sector of the country.
A significant aim of this project is to enroll over 1000 foreign students in the degree programs offered at NSBM which will definitely be a remarkable prospect of investment for a country that is on the fast track towards sustainable economic development.
The NSBM eco-friendly University would have the capacity to accommodate 30,000 students at a time and would comprise Management, Computing and Engineering faculties. All the faculties will have state-of-the-art lecture halls, ultramodern computer labs while over 50 degree programs from a range of disciplines will gear the NSBM graduates to cater to the demands of the modern corporate world.
All of these degree programs will either be accredited by University Grants Commission (UGC), Sri Lanka or other foreign universities that are approved by UGC.
This university experience will greatly contribute to the national economy by expanding the opportunities for school leavers who are not eligible for state university entrance to study for a degree that concurs with the market requirements for employment.
NSBM is a Board of Investment approved project that was set up as a collaborative venture of National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) that functions under the Ministry of Youth
Affaires and Skills Development.
