The 16th Congress of the International Colored Gem Stone Association ended on a successful note this past week at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo.

The Congress which was held in Sri Lanka for the second time after 26 years saw an unprecedented participation of over 250 foreign delegates from more than 60 countries.

Speaking at the post-press conference, Secretary to the ICA Congress 2015 Ziqufi Ismail noted that the congress had exceeded expectations and sets the tone for the next congress to come. It was revealed that the next ICA Congress would be held in Jaipur, India.

Sri Lanka which has marked USD $500 in exports of Gems is hoping to achieve USD 1 billion in exports by the end of the year. Officials agreed that the ICA Congress which was held in Sri Lanka plays a pivotal role in generating that revenue.
