Sri Lanka Army has appointed Major General N.A Jagath C Dias as the new Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, the Army Headquarters announced Thursday (14). Major General Dias is the Commander of Security Force in Mullaitivu.

He will enter his name into the list of Chiefs of Staff in the Army as the 46th in the order. He has joined the army in 1980 and was commissioned to the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment 1 as a 2nd Lieutenant in February 1982. Later, he has received an Inter Regimental transfer to Gajaba Regiment (GR).

He is also a recipient of the Weera Wickrama Vibushanaya (WWV), Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP), Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) and Uttama Seva Padakkama (USP). He is also a graduate of the National Defense College, India and an old boy of Ananda College, Colombo.

Major General Jagath Dias has wide-ranging experience in various command, staff and instructional appointments. He commanded the 57 Division during the peak of the war for peace against terrorism. (DPL)
